Who this is for

Tuition is suitable for pupils who are academically able but underperforming, have gaps in learning due to illness, school disruption, or anxiety, are neurodivergent (including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, or dyscalculia), need calm one-to-one support, are preparing for exams or key transitions, or have lost confidence in learning. Support is adaptive rather than one-size-fits-all.

Subjects and levels

Tuition is available for Primary (Key Stages 1 and 2), Secondary (Key Stages 3 and 4), GCSE support, and study skills including organisation and exam technique. Subjects typically include English, Maths, Science where appropriate, and broader academic confidence and learning skills. How tuition works

All tuition is delivered one-to-one and tailored to the individual pupil. Sessions focus on identifying gaps in understanding, rebuilding confidence and engagement, and teaching content in ways that match how the pupil learns. Where appropriate, teaching integrates structured explanations, visual and practical methods, repetition without pressure, and clear routines. Progress is reviewed regularly and support is adjusted as needed.

Neurodivergent-affirming approach

Advanced Learning Sheffield Hub works from a neurodivergent-affirming perspective. Differences are supported rather than pathologised, learning is adapted to the pupil rather than forced, and emotional regulation and confidence are treated as integral to academic success. This approach is particularly suitable for pupils who have struggled in mainstream settings.

Parents and communication

Clear communication with parents or carers is part of the service. This may include an initial discussion of needs and goals, updates on progress, and practical guidance to support learning outside sessions. Tuition is collaborative rather than punitive.
